What is your Inspiration? Part 2

So I've been mostly reading and/or watching movies for the last few weeks or so, but as I contemplated whether or not I wanted to self publish or go mainstream, I browsed one of the authors I enjoyed reading, Keary Taylor, author of the Fall of Angels series. She makes amazing covers for a very good price and I enjoy hr work (though i have yet to sample it myself).
Anywho, her covers are outstanding to say the least. The Color. Detail. Effort. And love that is put into each one is outstanding. (Did I say that already?) As I gazed in lust at them, a lightbulb ignited in my mind.

I want to self publish.

I browsed google to try my hand at making covers. I downloaded the trial of Photoshop and Indesign because let me tell you, they are BLOODY EXPENSIVE. Maybe $600 a pop. I absolutely cannot afford that. But I completed maybe two covers on the Indesign software and I think they're decent. One is for Athena's Medallion and the other is for another series I started called The Last Valkyrie.

Let me tell you. It takes hours to try and understand what you have to do using Photoshop and such. Very difficult. But anyway book covers were my new inspirations and I enjoyed having the new flow of ideas come through.

You can check out Keary's website or blog at: www.kearytaylor.com

**If you want to see the covers I made, just leave a comment below and I'll post it up.

Cheers!

Review on Ain't No Sunshine

So, I must say that I was surprised when I heard that there would be a novel about men sharing their feelings. I know what your thinking (She's already crazy, how much worse can it get), but I assure you it is true. I was gifted with the opportunity to review it. Though it took me FOREVER to do it, it's finally done. (I'm sorry, my mind sometimes escapes me). Anywho, let's get started.

Ain't No Sunshine is the unofficial memoir of men suffering from heartbreak. Of course us women can understand the pain of heartbreak, we suffer from it continuously, but to finally get the input from a man (an insight into their emotions) is truly a gift. it changed my opinion about the male mind and how they feel about their relationships. Honestly, men and women aren't that different when it comes to relationships. They hurt just we hurt. Cry as we cry. Love as we love.

Each story had its own heartache and I couldn't believe how awful the women treated them. The book almost makes us look bad, but some of the guys did find true love despite the horrific pain that they suffered. (Shame on those women) For all the women (like myself) who believe that all men are the same, I want you to read this and I know for sure that it will change your opinion.

There are some good guys out there. Perhaps if we stopped leaving the good guys for the bad ones, we'd have happiness. (Not saying that all women do that however).

Anywho, I'd like to thank the men that participated and gave their stories for the world to see. Without them, I might just've stayed home and got nine cats to look after for the rest of my life. (also, not a bad thing. I prefer dogs however).

Cheers to the men and Happy Fourth of July!

Review on I am Number Four

Movie: I Am Number Four
Main Actor: Alex Pettyfer

When I saw the preview for this I did want to go to the theater to see it, but for some reason I don't remember I didn't go see it. Needless to say it came out on dvd, but I didn't buy it...anywho I rented it from the blockbuster kiosk. I loved it.

Synopsis: John is an extraordinary teen, masking his identity and passing as a typical high school student to elude a deadly enemy seeking to destroy him. Three like him have already died...he is number four.

My Take: John (Pettyfer) is trying to pass an an ordinary teen though he's far from normal. After usffering from a searing new scar, John is back on the run because the scar's appearance in witnessed. After moving to a new town, he finds love and also must escape the hands of the creatures hunting him.

The Review: For some reason, I did not originally like Alex Pettyfer. I don't know, I think I heard he was a racist or something (that's not true by the way) and I just didn't want to see any movie he was in. Anyway, after assuming the claims weren't true (How am I suppose to know I don't know him personally) I watched I Am Number Four.
It was enjoyable. Pettyfer is swoon worthy and played his part well. I didn't quite understand what he was suffering from in the beginning but once I figured it out I began to enjoy it.I understood his purpose on Earth and I must say, if all aliens look like him and number six, humans definitely suck as a race (joking). John's (Pettyfer) uncle is a homey type alien (LOL). I felt the love he had for his nephew with all the protective measures he took in trying to keep them incognito.
One thing I didn't like about the movie is the fact that John fell in love so quickly with the female lead (one of the girls from Glee). It seemed a bit random when he suddenly declared his love for her.
I thoroughly enjoyed Number six. I don't think they ever actually told us her name. She was badass. (Excuse the language). When she blew up John's house and the fire engulfed her, I think that was my favorite part of the movie.

Okay, so at the end of the movie, they kid of hinted that there might be more of the numbers. I'm not sure how that's possible exactly. Considering they have to be killed in order, I'm not sure how they're going to pull this off when they have to be killed in order. I wouldn't want them to kill Alex Pettyfer, that wouldn't make me watch the other movies.

I've rate the movie perhaps a 7.8/10

Cheers!

Review on Greek

So, I've definitely been gone for a long time and I'm happy to be back. I'm probably going to be posting perhaps two or three times a day to make up for lost time. Today, I'm starting off with a review on the tv show Greek. Since I recently opened a netflix account, I've been taking full advantage of it.

I'd seen the show on ABC before, but I think it was in the later seasons and I didn't want to come into a show where it'd already begun. Thanks to Netflix, I've watched the last 6 seasons, season six being the last one. Now let's get started.

My Take: Rusty Cartright is a freshman in college who has a popular sister on campus, Casey Cartright, who is a junior and a member of the sorority ZBZ.

The Review: I enjoyed the show. Since I've never been a part of a sorority then this was an interesting take on the whole Greek system. If this is how the frat houses truly are, I'm surprised. Of course I expected the partying, underage drinking, and such, but what they showed me on the show made it believable.
Let's take Casey for example. When we're introduced to her, she's talking to the sisters of her sorority. They began to talk about Ashleigh's outfit (I wouldn't have known half of that until they said it.) Now, immediately I knew the ZBZ's were liars considering how they were going to go about getting their pledges. Now, the next time we see her, she's talking to a half naked bloke in a bar called Dopler's (I actually know the name considering they spend a lot of time there). I immediately liked Cappie. I thought he was funny, and charming--in a drunkish kind of way--Of course he wasn't half bad to look at too.
Evan on the other hand did not rub me the right way. He just didn't seem like the right guy for Casey. Considering he cheats on her with that annoying Rebecca girl...ugh, enough said.

Enough about them, let's talk about Rusty. The main story revolves around Rusty and how he's dealing with Rush and college. (Well at least the first season). He's soooo adorable. Though his sister doubts him, Rusty decides to rush a fraternity. While doing so, he just happens to stumble across his sister's boyfriend (Evan) making out with a chick (Rebecca). Put two and two together.

Greek is such a complicated show that it would take forever to fully describe everything that happens in this show. They juggle so many things in it that if I told one thing, it would give away the story. It was well written otherwise and I enjoyed all the seasons, except for the last episode. That one sucked because of the ending. Butttttttt, I encourage everyone to watch it.

Go Kappa Tau!!!

Cheers!
